How jaideeilas Came to Be
jaideeilas began quietly, the way most honest things do. The family who founded this house had spent years watching elderly relatives grow older in places that were adequate — staffed well enough, clean enough, managed well enough — but that felt, in some essential way, like waiting rooms. They wanted something different.
The house on U Thong Road had been in the family for many years. It faces the temple perimeter. In the mornings, the light comes in from the east across the courtyard and fills the sitting room in a way that is difficult to describe unless you have seen it. When the family decided to open it to elderly residents, they did so because it felt like the right use of a place that had always held people warmly.
jaideeilas — the name means good heart in Thai — was opened to reflect exactly that: not a facility, not a clinic, but a home with a good heart at its centre.
Since opening, jaideeilas has welcomed residents from Thailand and from abroad — individuals arriving at a time in their lives when they want peace, comfort, and something meaningful to look out at each morning. Ayutthaya provides that abundantly.
We are not a large operation. We do not intend to become one. The number of residents we accept at any time is limited — not as a marketing strategy, but because a household of the kind we want to keep has a natural size. When it grows beyond that, it stops being a home.
Our mission has not changed since the beginning: to make the last years feel like some of the best ones. Not through grand gestures, but through good meals, thoughtful company, and the quiet beauty of a place that is worth being in.

Meals are prepared daily using produce purchased from Ayutthaya's local markets. No preserved or reheated food is served as a main meal. Dietary considerations are accommodated thoughtfully.

All rooms are attended to daily. Common areas are maintained to a consistent standard throughout the day. The house is kept in the way a well-run family home is kept — not clinical, but genuinely clean and ordered.
Safe and Thoughtful Environment
The house is managed with the physical safety and emotional comfort of elderly residents in mind. Lighting, floor surfaces, bathroom fittings, and access pathways are all considered for ease of movement.
Privacy and Discretion
Residents' personal circumstances, health matters, and family relationships are handled with complete confidentiality. Information is shared only where a resident has given clear consent.
Open Communication with Families
Families are kept informed and welcomed. We hold no information back from those who share responsibility for a resident's wellbeing. Our door — and our phone — are always open.
Cultural Programme Integrity
Outings, music sessions, and historical walks are led by knowledgeable local figures and conducted at a pace suited to the residents who attend. Participation is always voluntary.
